The Karma Ergo Lite 2 Wheelchair is an ultra-light weight aluminum wheelchair. It has a total weight of about 10.3 kgs with footrests and rear wheels. These footrests and rear wheels are removable; the weight is reduced to only 6 kgs without them.

Moreover, you can fold this wheelchair into a compact size, which makes it easy to store away when not in use, or put in the back of a car when travelling.

This wheelchair has ergonomically designed hand rims that require minimal effort for accelerating and braking, and exert the least amount of stress possible on the user’s hands.

Each Karma wheelchair goes through rigorous testing for durability, quality and safety, and the Ergo Lite 2 is no exception. Each one has been passed through multiple tests such as the rough road test, drop resistance test, real life user test, and two drum test to ensure the complete safety of the user. This makes the chair durable and long lasting as well.

You can also get additional accessories with the chair if you want to, including a foldable headrest, cup holder, net bag, backrest bag, travel bag, harness, and pelvic belt.

6 Incredible Features of Karma Ergo Lite 2

If everything mentioned above wasn’t enough, here are some more stand-out features of the Karma Ergo Lite 2 Wheelchair.

Portability

You can easily fold the KARMA Ergo Lite 2 wheelchair into a small, compact shape. Once the chair is folded, you can easily fit it into your car trunk or stow in a cupboard so that it’s out of the way.

This feature allows you to take the chair with you on the go so you can enjoy the outdoors without worrying about mobility options or the availability of comfortable seating.

Lightweight

The wheelchair’s body is made from aluminum, which is one of the lightest metals. This makes the chair ultra-lightweight, and very easy for an attendant or helper to carry or move around. Moreover, the attendant can remove the detachable footrests and rear wheels to make the wheelchair even lighter.

The light weight also makes this chair easier to self-propel than many other heavier models.

S Ergo Seating System

Sitting in a wheelchair for extended periods of time can be uncomfortable, but not anymore. The KARMA Ergo Lite 2 has a unique S Ergo seating system.

The seat is ergonomically designed with an S shaped cushion that promotes blood flow to the lower portion of the body and maintains the S shape of the spine. This helps the user sit for hours without any discomfort or health issues.

Swing Away Footrests

This feature of the KARMA Ergo Lite 2 allows you to swing the footrests sideways.

You can also detach them completely from the chair if you want to. Once you move them sideways, you can easily move on and off the wheelchair or place your feet on the floor and use it as a regular chair.

Push And Pull Brake System

The innovative push and pull brake system at the back of the chair allows the attendant to stop the wheelchair easily without having to lean across the front, and lock it into place.

The easy pull mechanism then allows the brakes to be released again with minimal effort.

AEGIS Microbe Shield

The upholstery of the wheelchair is covered with an AEGIS microbe shield that inhibits the growth of bacteria and fungi.

It also reduces odour and prevents deterioration. Moreover, this shield makes the upholstery very easy to clean too.

Comfortable and Durable Upholstery

The upholstery of the Ergo Lite 2 is very durable. It promotes upright seating and has anti-slid properties, so you do not slip around on the seat.

It is comfortable and helps you relax, and also comes in various colors, so you can choose the one you like.

Pros

The pros of the innovatively designed KARMA Ergo Lite 2 are that it is very easy to carry due to its lightweight. It is very sturdy and has been tested for safety.

It has an effortless braking system, ergonomic seating and an ergonomic hand rim, which gives better propulsion.

The backrest and the frame of the wheelchair are foldable, and you can collapse it into a compact size for easy transportation and storage.

Cons

One con of the KARMA Ergo Lite 2 is that the maximum user weight that it supports is about 100kgs. Hence it is not ideal for people who are overweight.

It’s also slightly more expensive than other wheelchairs, however considering how light weight and easy it is to move, I think the extra investment is well worth it.

Karma Ergo Lite 2 Wheelchair – Conclusion

The Ergo Lite 2 has to be one of my favourite wheelchairs on the market today. You can really tell that Karma have thought of everything when designing this chair. From the easy to grip wheel rims to the folding capabilities to the removable foot rests to how unbelievably light weight it is, this chair is a dream to use.

Yes, it might be a bit more expensive than other wheelchairs, but considering it’s benefits and how much use the wheelchair is likely to get, I think it’s definitely worth the extra money.
